A Presence in My Bed - Lucid Dreaming
Dream: I was sleeping and felt a presence in my bed
that caused me to be afraid and wake up. Then I felt that
someone else was in the bed with me and my husband. It was
observing or watching over me and I didn't know if it was
friendly or threatening. I tried to scream but no sound would
come out. Then I tried to reach over to my husband but I
couldn't move. Finally, I struggled so hard that I was able to
reach him and woke up. I haven't had the dream since. What
does this mean? Charlotte. Interpretation: Charlotte:
This is a classic case of lucid dreaming where your mind wakes
up but your body is still sleeping. That is why you can't move
to reach your husband. Its called "sleep paralysis" which is a
protection for you and your bed-mate so you don't act out your
dreams physically. The presence you felt in the bed with you
was "you". Your awake mind was aware of your sleeping body and
believed it was an alien presence there. Many people try to
develop Lucid Dreaming so they can manipulate their dreams,
while others try to have "Out of Body Experiences" from that
point. They actually practice to get to where you were.
If it happens again, try to be more observant about the things
around you and what you can think of from that lucid dream
vantage. Don't be afraid of it anymore. Marbus. |
